Are you experiencing any hypothyroid symptoms. Under treatment of hypothyroidism is common.
“Thyroid hormones are essential for the growth and metabolism of the growing fetus. Early in pregnancy the mother supplies her fetus with thyroid hormones. If the mother is hypothyroid, she cannot supply her fetus with enough thyroid hormones. Hence hypothyroidism is a risk factor for pregnancy loss.” - Have You Suffered a Miscarriage? Your Thyroid Could Be to Blame
I too am very sad to hear of the loss of your precious babies.
There are many things that can cause miscarriage. Hopefully your doctor has eliminated other posibilities like progesterone insufficices.
I certainly am not an expert on this, but I was thinking the link w/ autoimmune and miscarrage was the antiphospholipid syndrome antibodies (especially anticardiolipin). If your doctor has not tested for these antibodies, I suggest you make that suggestion.
You are certainly in my prayers.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your babies. This is just as devastating as it gets. I also suffered from miscarriages. Looking back I think I was probably deficient in vitamin D3.
I think for me, it was more than just vitamin deficiencies as I was hypothyroid and also had PCOS. If you could have the doc add a vitamin panel to your next blood work you could both see if you are missing in any of the essential vitamins.
However, it would be worth the time and money to start taking vitamin D3 now. The amount depends on your deficiency and other medical conditons, but 5,000 IU to 10,000 IU daily for an adult is the amount needed to get your levels up to between 50-70 ml. This is the "optimal level" to be healthy.
It is easy to find D3 over the counter at Costco, Walmart, Walgreen etc. You also need enough magnesium for the body to absorb the D3 so take a magnesium too.
For lots more info on the importance of D3 in pregnancy and making healthy babies go to www.vitamindcouncil.org. Babies also need enough D3. It comes in a liquid for kids, with a dose of 1,000 IU a day. Otherwise you can get gel or tab pills for adults.
You may want to see another OB-GYN also to see if they have other suggestions in addition to baby aspirin. I hope that you start to feel better, and have a healthy pregnancy in the future if that is what you want.
You do need to rest and build up your body in between pregnancies.
All the best,
