symptoms?

Hi, my brother is 49 yrs old and started having a strange feeling in his jaw.  Hard to describe.  His tongue feels swollen and definitely numb.  He can't chew b/c it aggravates swollen tongue sensation and swallowing becomes really difficult. He had a droopy eye but that stopped and he will get a headache on one side - the same side that had the droopy eye   which stopped drooping days ago.  All his tests are negative except the emg.  So something's going on.  A group of docs in the hosp said MG but his main neuro doesn't think so.  He doesn't fit the MG bill perfectly.  He started Mestinon 5 days ago and it isn't working like it should if he has MG.  He can't walk too much b/c he gets super tired and then his tongue feels really swollen, his head hurts and he just gets sick all over.  His CT scan showed the thymus was okay.  Now the neuro wants to send him to a GI doc b/c his abd CT showed some narrowing of intestines.  Related?... maybe?  Looking for help b/c it's tough not knowing what's wrong with you.  Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but I would recommend that you redo you question and put Myasthenia gravis??? on the subject line.  You might get more responses from people who are more familiar with this disease.

Has he had any dental work done lately?  Does he alot of amalgam fillings in his mouth.?  Does he have bleeding gums?  Amalgam filllings are 50% mercury and this has caused problems in some people.
