Granulamatous Disease

Hello.  I am a soldier and received an e-mail today from a doctor who saw me in Iraq.  He saw me for an unrelated injury, and ordered a chest x-ray.  Three months upon return from Iraq, I received an e-mail regarding a thing called granulomatous disease being found on my x-ray.  He said it appeared as if my body had successfully fought off the infection.  My research on the subject indicated that there is only such thing as Chronic Granulomatous disease, and that the prognosis is fairly serious.  I am currently awaiting my appointment to have another x-ray done, and my wife is freaking out about it.  Is there such thing as granulomatous disease that is not a chronic, hereditary condition?  Some of the symptoms seem to fit.  I have chronic shortness of breath when running, chronic pneumonia, and have had many upper respiratory conditions throughout my life.  I am 21 years old.  Any information about this disease would be extremely helpful.  Thank you.

"In pathology, a granuloma is an organized collection of macrophages."
                                                                                            ----Wikipedia

"Granulomatous" is not a disease but a medical term for a whole bunch of "macrophage" cells, which are the type of white blood cells that engulf and digest cellular debris, foreign substances, microbes, cancer cells etc. in your body.

Granuloma is referred to any mass congregation of these cells in one area of your body (Granulomatous)----in other words, a mass, not a tumor. This can be a marker for many diseases even the hereditary ones. However, if all other markers in your blood don't show the existence of other diseases, it can be as a result of a virus like flu or a bacterial infection, something like "Pleurisy", which makes breathing painful specially if you have a deep breath.

It also could be as a result of inhaling some chemicals in Iraq.

Hey there.
Same thing here. My dr didnt even tell me, i read it the cat scan doctors findings when they were scanning my gall bladder hat I had sequalue of granulamtous disease. My doctor is good but when  tried asking him, he said nothing ever occurred from having that but there is plenty of research in other countries stating the opposite. If there is anything to it and I think there is, it will be up to ourselves to get our immune systems stronger. Bst of luck, Im still looking myself.
