I recently went to the cardiologist and got the diagnosis of vasomotor instability. For the past several years I have had symptoms of POTS. I wrote down my various sitting, lying down, and standing heart rates from the past few weeks as evidence. My resting hr is around 68 and standing, it can get to 130. He disregarded all of this information and suggested I drink more coffee and tea. Previously to this the nurse wrote down that I don't drink coffee because it makes my heart race. I asked him at the end of the appointment, after he made his diagnosis, if it could be POTS. He said no, because he reserves that diagnosis for the very severe patients. He basically brushed me off because most people pass out. I've fainted a few times in just the last few months. I am very sensitive to temperatures. I get very dizzy standing too log. All my symptoms match up with POTS. Do I have POTS, or was this cardiologist correct in his vasomotor instability definition?
