Bulging disk

My Dr. did a CAT scan (can't have MRI due to nerve stimulator implant) and said I have a bulging disk in my lower spine.  He does a procedure (outpatient) that lasts 3 months.  Is there anything that can be done on a more permanent basis? THANKS!

I have a nerve stimulator implanted in my left leg/thigh for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) now known as Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (from a bunion surgery gone wrong in 1990).

I'm not sure what the exact procedure is called, but I have another question for him so I will ask and get back to you ASAP!

Thank you for responding!

Welcome to the Back and Neck Community.  Members are here to provide assistance and support to individuals experiencing symptoms related to possible abnormal conditions of the spine.  Advice given is non-professional and is primarily based on personal experiences.

You do not state the reason you have a nerve stimulator implanted.  Is this the result of other degenerative changes you have had diagnosed?  A "bulging" disc in itself may be the source of your current discomfort, but the treatment options are dependent on the exact size and type of bulge and how it is affecting your spinal nerve roots.
I can not be certain what procedure he is recommending.  If you could provide additional information regarding the procedure we might be better able to assist you.
Best wishes ---
