Does Spinal Decompression work?

Has anyone had any pain relief with Spinal Decompression?  Does it work?  If so, are the results worth the time and money?  I have nerve impingement at L4 and L5.  I experience lots of lower back pain, going down both legs and feet.  Some of the other symptoms in include muscle spasms/cramping, numbness, tingling burning, twitching, buzzing vibrating sensations.

Injections only work if they target the area that is the problem. Unfortunately, many pain clinics will misdiagnose or inject the wrong area, resulting in pain relief for only a day or two. Not to mention the scares we've been seeing all over the country with tainted steroid and epidural shots.  The decompression is a great option, but only 3/10 people are candidates for it. There are a lot of things that will rule out your ability to get it done.

You can go to this website to read more about it.

It's pretty well written and explains how the discs work.  The thing with surgery is that you can't undo it once you've done it. I would highly recommend trying decompression and if it doesn't work, then looking at the surgical alternatives.

Thanks so much for the reply. I also appreciate your comment about the injections.  I have been considering those as well.  I know several people who have tried the injections and so far, not one of them has had any relief from them. I am seriously considering the decompression as my next move.   I also use heat and ice therapy at home.  I have a TENS unit, but have trouble getting the patches on my lower back. I hope the decompression continues to work well for you.

I have been going to a chiropractor for much pain in my neck that a neurologist only injected pain meds at a high cost to only give me relief for a day.  I have found the decompression has helped me tremendously with the pain and has help alleviate the pain down my shoulder.  I have sever arthritis and the neurologist said surgery is not an option.  My chiropractor will be working with decompression in the next couple of months after we get the neck well.  I have had lower back pain for about 15-20 years.  Chiropractic is a help more than any other.  We use heat and ice therapy as well as a TENS unit.
