sciatica 4 years later after surgery normal?

I have back surgery for bulging of L4. I was in pain. It hurt to walk. Felt like pins and needles. Felt like it was burning. Had sciatica from my butt down my leg. Surgery did work. No pain walking. But if I walk a lot I get sciatica. Every night my muscles in my butt and leg are so tight. Usually a massage will help. Does anyone have this and what helps?
