MRI cervical help ACDF surgery recommended

MRI CERVICAL  SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST:   3/1/2017

HISTORY : Cervical and lumbar stenosis, bilateral hand tingling. COMPARISON :  Plain films 03/01/2017
TECHNIQUE : appropriate pulse sequences were employed in multiple planes. FINDINGS :
Alignment : Cervical spinal alignment is nonnal.

Marrow :  The vertebral bodies are well maintained and show normal signal characteristics.

Craniocervical Junction : Cerebellar tonsils are normally positioned . The visualized portions of the posterior fossa are unremarkable . The regional osseous anatomy is nonnal.

Cord:  The spinal cord shows normal signal content throughout its length.

C2-3: The disc space is minimally narrowed with desiccation and central disc bulging. These changes do not produce mass effect on the spinal cord. Uncovertebral disease results in minimal narrowing of the foramina. No facet degeneration is identified .

C3-4: The disc space is minimally narrowed with desiccation and annular bulging. These changes do not produce mass effect on the spinal cord. Uncovertebral disease produces minimal foraminal stenosis. No facet degeneration is identified.

C4-5: There is marked narrowing of the disc space with desiccation. Spondylotic changes flatten the adjacent spinal cord narrowing the central canal to between 6 and 7 mm. Broad-based osteophytes extend through both foramina producing severe stenosis. No facet degeneration is identified.

C5-6: There is marked narrowing of the disc space with desiccation. Spondylotic changes flatten the adjacent spinal cord narrowing the central canal to between six and 7 mm. Broad-based uncovertebral osteophytes extend through the foramina producing severe stenosis greater to the left. No facet degeneration is identified .

C6-7: There is marked narrowing of the disc space with desiccation. Spondylotic changes include disc bulging which flattens the adjacent spinal cord narrowing the central canal to between six and 7 mm. Broad-based uncovertebral osteophytes produce relatively advanced stenosis of both foramina. No facet degeneration is identified .

C7-1: Unremarkable : The disc space maintains normal height and signal. The central canal and foramina are preserved . No facet degeneration is identified.
Soft tissues : The paraspinous soft tissues are normal. IMPRESSION:
1. Advanced degenerative disc disease from C4-5 through C6-7 produces moderate central canal stenosis with
flattening of the cord. Osteophytes produce relatively severe stenosis of the foramina.

2. Milder degeneration at C2-3 and C3-4 without radiographically significant compromise of the central canal or foramina.

Make sure to get a 2nd opinion, even a 3rd if possible.
