Lower Back Pain -DDD

My girlfriend has been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease at 28 and is now 43.  She just had an xray done with the following results:

RESULT: Endplate spurring and intravertebral disk space narrowing is seen
at multiple levels. No fracture or subluxation is seen. SI joints are
normal in appearance. The imaged bowel gas pattern is nonobstructive.
Probable left renal calculus. Spurring of the SI joints. Minimal
dextro-curvature of the lumbar spine.

IMPRESSION:

* Degenerative change.

Not exactly sure what it means.  She's in quite a bit of pain but is hesitant to proactively do anything.

Any help would be much appreciated.

She needs to see either a neurosurgeon or spine specialist and have a MRI done so they can correctly give her a prognosis. Good luck!
