Like you, I am so thankful for the affordable health care act. My problems began late last year after being "treated" by a chiropractor. He over manipulated my back after diagnosing what he said was arthritis and promising me he could spare me from surgery. Now I am totally disabled.
My husband and I have had a difficult time trying to get the right doctors. Many of them really seem not to care and take our money. I couldn't get insurance because of the pre-existing condition but we have been using our savings to pay for doctors and prescriptions. I am looking at surgery as soon as possible to relieve my pain. While I am waiting, I am doing my research. My doctor and surgeon are two of the best here in Columbus. All I need at the moment is patience while the pain is controlled. I was always an active person so I also have to fight depression at times. The affordable care act keeps me thinking positive. I'm laying on my back 99% of the time so we bought a laptop that I can use in this position.
Be glad you caught it-especially if it can be treated. I was ignored for years after a severe encounter and beating at the hands of my ex husband.Told my pre ex-sisting condition was former spousal abuse-until the affordable healthcare act, outlawed that treatment of me! Until then,I had been ignored for 8 plus years. Now I am told I have been working with a fractured neck and spinal compressions(as a nurse)Well I am almost in a wheelchair now-unable to do my lifes work! Definitely whatever you do,take care of your back. Do not be afraid to find the best doctor! Advocates can be empowering as well!
Good luck!
If you are able to lay back and take it easy, your discs may very well heal themselves. Whatever you do, I wouldn't go to a chiropractor; that's what messed me up. If the chiropractor is gentle and causes no damage, they will take your money while appearing to be your closest friend. Rest is the best treatment. If you are having pain, by all means get help for that.
