Possible back surgery

Hi Everyone!! Im new on this forum and I have had a lot of knee surgeries, and other undiagnosed problems. I'm 18 years old and Just found out that my doctor thinks i need back surgery due to my lumbar vertebrae? I'm in a lot of pain and its causing pain in my hip too. I'm going for a bone scan and an x-ray in four weeks to find out if its the exact problem because my last x-ray I had was in 09, and my spine was curved, but it was only minimal. I was just wondering about what happens with this surgery and maybe talk to people who have had surgery like this? Idk much about it because he just told me yesterday and we aren't positive that this is what it is, but he's pretty positive, and hes one of the best orthopedics in NY. He was also the 2nd highest in his class in college, so I won't go and see anyone else.
Please someone give me some information on what you might know, because the research I have done is scaring me. :(

Hi there!

Well, without the relevant details it would be difficult to comment on the situation such the primary abnormality in the vertebra, the type of surgery etc. It would be best to discuss the surgery and the prognosis in detail with your treating doctor.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
