Sciatica for 14 weeks... at a loss at what to do

I have been diagnosed with sciatica (L4) since the 21st july and I was in complete agony with it, requiring a sick note from work for me to rest. 14 weeks on I am still off of work. I have a constant pain normally in my right leg. it burns / radiates / cramps /  aches down to my ankle. My right buttock hurts constantly. I have shooting pains and cramp in my right hip. When my leg gives me a bit of peace I have back ache, to the right  of lumbar area and spine. my spine pops and clicks. the last two weeks I have had odd shooting pains in my left thigh
Although the pain has improved on two months ago, I still have to use a wheelchair to get out of the house if further than 500 yards and if I am forced to walk further, I am in agony for a few days after.
I have began twitching and jerking too, my right leg especially, and also my right arm and abdominal area. I had a weak bladder which is improving. I have no idea what caused this. I was actually at the cinema when this started.
I am having physiotherepy which appears to only hurt and nothing more, and I have finally had a date for MRI. I am now going on to benefits and am contemplating quiting my job.
Is there any chance this could be something more serious? MS, ... I dunno.

sciatica is usually caused by a nerve impingement in your lower spine...could be a herniated disk for one..did you injure your back?
I have had sciatica for 5-6 yrs so I sure know about the agony you are describing.
Abt 4 yrs ago my doctor put me on a medication called neurontin (gabapentin)...it is amazing how much it has helped, it does loose potency over the years tho.
I'm not a doctor just telling you abt my experience and the med that has helped me.
good luck
