Severe Low Back/Hip Pain

I am asking for my boyfriend. He has had severe back pain that suddenly worsened when working out one day. He said it would be worse when he would jump down from things, The pain is in his lower back, on the right side, right where his hip bone is. It seems to act up more when he works out or tries to lift things. He can only squat because he cannot bend over due to pain. He is a very active and is in great shape and never complains about anything so the pain must be very intense. He has gone to a Chiro who said it was torn. That was over a month ago. Please let me know if you know anything. Thank you.

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the pain. Possibilities that may need to be considered include spinal issues such as degeneration, disc prolapse etc; neuro-muscular causes, postural issues, injuries, contusion/ bruises, growths/ masses etc. It would be best to have this evaluated by a primary care physician or an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
