Suggestions on Matresses after micrdiscectomy

I had a microdiscectomy 2-1/2 years ago for a herniated disc causing sciatica down my right leg. About 6 months after the surgery I started having lower back pain while sleeping at night. The pain has gotten so bad at night and sometimes affects me throughout the day as well. Sneezing and coughing almost brings me to my knees. Considering most of my pain is during the night, I wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on what kind of mattress to use. Right now I’m using a pillow top, and is obviously no good for me.
Thanks in advance!
