TLIF *MIS* Level L4/5 L5/S1

Hello, I am two weeks after having lower back surgery. Since waking up from surgery I have had the worst pain going into my right hip socket and down my right leg that stops at the ankle. It is a very sharp constant pain. This pain is controlling my mind and it hurts so bad. I am a 49 year old female. Now my left is starting to act the same way just not to the same degree. My buttocks also seem to be painful. Also I had neck surgery Aug 20 of this year, Sometimes the pain in my hip takes the same route, others it is just a straight shot down. Please someone tell me why...I'm really so tired mentally of the pain. Thank you in advance.

I cannot say what is causing your pain...pain in the buttock radiating down to the knee is typical sciatic pain. Doctors call this "radiculopathy," and its usually caused by pressure on the root nerves of L4-S1. Pain down to the ankle may indicate something different.

Please contact your surgeon and report your symptoms. He/she best knows your case and can act using that knowledge. All we can offer here is opinion.

Best wishes.
