Pain After Back Fusion - Please help

I had a L4-S1 fusion in Jan 09, I had spondylolisthesis - forward slippage of the vertebrae, This was stopping me from playing golf and tennis (2 of my passions) I was also told that after an MRI scan that i had de-hydrated discs and was recommended to have the surgery,  ...  [More]     Like i say i had the operation last Jan and am struggling to get back to my sports, I find myself now a year after my op and still not getting better, I seem to be getting major muscle spasms around my pelvic/sacrum area, It feels like i am carrying 2 heavy weights around my sacrum that is completely sold, I have taken many pain meds but nothing working, Am considering Botox to relax the muscle, Has anyone else experienced these systems after their fusion ? If so how did you get rid of it

Hi

Been to my consultant and he just says go to pain management, A big cop out as far as i'm concerned, Have asked to see another consultant for a second opinion, Just waiting now for the appointment, Pain management has been ok but as of yet not got to the root of the problem, Hence my next step with them is a course of Botox injections booked for the 30th April, Will keep you posted : )

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear of ur struggles!!!! I just got done with my own l5/s1 open-back fusion with instrumentation on feb 22nd of this year. While I don't experience muscle spasms around that region, I am experiencing a new pain in my tailbone area. Much like its been broken and now its the achiness from trying to heal. What does ur dr say bout ur symptoms? Hope u get relief soon, greatest blessing:)
