I guess I would trust your doc, they wouldn't screw you over on purpose!
A MRI WILL NOT HELP YOUR SURGEON LOOK AT THE DISC RELACEMENTS ,IT WILL NOT SHOW UP,YOU NEED MYELOGRAM WITH CT SCAN. THE DISC REPLACEMENT COULD HAVE FAILED. AND SURGEON WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THEM OUT. THEY WILL FUSE OVER THE IMPLANTS AND USE THEM AS ANCHORS. BUT THAT WILL NOT STOP PAIN ,THEY NEED TO COME OUT BUT SURGEON CAN NOT RETRIVE THEM CAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUSE.LOOK INTO EUROPE TRAILS WITH COMPLICATIONS FROM DISC REPLACEMENT SURGERY.

Welcome to the Back and Neck Community. Members are here to provide assistance and support to individuals experiencing symptoms related to possible abnormal conditions of the spine. Advice given is non-professional and is primarily based on personal experiences.
I am sorry to hear of your continued pain. You did not mention when you had your disc replacement surgery or what levels were done. Because of your symptoms, it appears that you are experiencing pain related to your lumbar spine.
Disc replacement surgery is relatively new as treatment for degenerative disc disease and herniated discs. The intent is to avoid fusion and maintain as much movement and function in the spine as possible. They have not been done as frequently as fusion surgeries and the longterm results have not been statistically recorded.
Not all surgeries have the same results and it is unfortunate that the outcome you experienced with your surgery was not similar to the doctor's other patient. It may be due to many associated factors which are affecting the stability of your spine.
If your spine has advanced degenerative disease, or is compromised by spondylolisthesis (a shifting of the vertebrae from its normal alignment), it is possible that your spine needs more stabilization as that offered by spinal fusion.
Getting the MRI will give your surgeon more information regarding the actual results of the surgery and any possible conditions that may co-exist that are now responsible for your current complaints of pain.
Once the MRI results are reviewed in detail, your doctor can discuss what treatment options are available.
Please post again with an update and any additional questions/concerns you may have.
Best wishes -----
