i'm scared, please help

i'm 16 and i have a lump in my neck. i've had it for about a year now. it's soft and it's pretty small. it's movable. it doesn't randomly hurt. it only hurts if i really poke at it. and recently i noticed another lump that's kind of by it. this one is smaller and not as noticable...a little less than i year ago i went to the doctor for something else and brought up the topic of the lump in my neck and she felt it and said it's nothing to worry about and i'm just probablly fighting something...well  it's a year later and i still have it....what could it be? and should i be worried?? i'm really freaking out here.

Ericka, since it didn't go away for a year now, and you have others, I would go back to doctor ASAP.  Tell them that you wanted out completely, along with the smaller one, and have it examined for cancer.  Most likely it is nothing to woryy about and unlikley to be cancer at all, but because you are only 14 yrs old, you need teh lumps removed and examined in the lab.  Take care of yourself.

Hi Ericka,
You should definitely get the lump checked out again. While it's not likely, there's a possibility that a soft lump in your neck could be a type of lymphoma (cancer.) In that case you would need to have it removed ASAP, before it can spread to other parts of your body. You shouldn't be nervous, because that is rare, but it's best not to wait.

They may just be cysts, which generally are not a problem.  Either way, honey, where's your parents in all this?  Of course you're scared.  Anything that happens to/with our bodies is frightening at times, regardless of our age.  You need to go back into docs & have them look at you again.  Have whomever your parent/legal guardian is talk to doc with you at same time.  And again, they may be nothing more than minor cysts, which can be removed if they're problematic.  Either way, get yourself back to the docs & have them looked at again.  Remind the doc about when the last one came up & the diagnosis then (ie: fighting something), but that one never went away & now you have another.  I'm sure it's not anything real serious, but i'm obviously not a doc, just a mom, so see the doc again honey.  Oh, and it IS ok to be frightened & freaking out some, heh, i do it myself.
