See if your dr will switch you to something you can afford. I have had to turn down several meds due to the price. As for the depression and no sleep they are not a good combo but will more than likely get better if you can get some medication to help with the pain. I become a bear when I start hurting until my meds kick in. The strength and energy are also tied to the pain. Who wants to do anything when you don't have enough rest for days on end and you hurt constantly.

You may also want to see if your pharmacy has any prescription plans that could help with the cost of the Lyrica or anything else your dr puts you on. Is parkland system your insurance?
Hope things get better soon. Best wishes, Sissie

The only medication that helps with nerve pain is nerve meds like Xanax Valium, Gabitril, ect I have permanent nerve damage and took Gabitril for a while then when my symptoms lessened started taking the Valium as needed. The Valium also helps with leg spasms. Complex B vitamins help to heal the nerves. I was on a medication called Mentanx which is just a complex b vitamin mix and it was working. Unfortunately I have herniated disc and had to stop due to the pain.

As with the above post it may take you trying several different things to find out what works for you. I also have a TENS unit in relation to the valium and pain meds. Walking is actually not a good exercise as it causes a lot of stress on your joints. Exercises that are low impact to joints will be better for you in the long run such as stationary bikes or even regular bike or elliptical machines. Also stretching is very important to keep your disc and nerves supplied with oxygen. I hope this info was helpful if I can help with any more feel free to send me a message. Also there is a chart on my profile that you may find interesting. It is a Nerve Conduction chart.  Best wishes, Sissie

I had 3 back surgeries with no nerve problems, but the 4th was with rods inserted in my spine and then the nerve problems started.

I too went through the pain clinics, regular rehabs, muscle relaxers,
and a hook up with a nerve stim implant and nothing worked.  When I
saw my surgeon for the last time, he said that I would have to learn
to live with the pain, that there was nothing else he could do.

In the 3 years since this last surgery I had started therapy for depression and anxiety which was made worse by the pain I was in and one day while in therapy, I woke up and the pain in my legs and feet was completely gone.  I think it was a combination of things that caused the healing, the therapy I am doing and the time that has passed since the surgery....

I know of no food or vitamins that might help nerve damage....

I know I didn't help much  but sometimes time just does heal
even though its usually in its own time and not ours...

Good luck to you
