post op back surgery

I had a l5 s1 microdisectomy/laminectomy on 8/13/2014 and am now about 4 weeks out. I am having some pain the left butt cheek and pulling on the outer part of the left leg when sitting. I am only working right now part time 5 hours a day but i sit all day. I get up every hour to walk and stretch and when i am walking i do not feel much pain at all. the worst seems to be sitting as it is putting pressure on the butt. The surgeon says that this is normal and that it is post op pain and will over time subside. I am also noticing that i am having slight ankle swelling and have pain on the bottom of my foot when i get home, however when i get up in the morning and have not moved around all day the pain is not there and wanted to know if this is normal and if anyone else has had this issue. This is not a fusion as they just took the herniated part of the disc out. I was told that this is all normal and that over time this will all go away.

It is too early to hope for complete healing.

Stay in touch with your doctor, keep him/her informed of any changes in symptoms. I'm sure you'll be just fine.

I have also asked for a second MRI or ct scan to make sure that everything is healing properly and they will not even give me this. They said that they don't do that unless there is something serious going on and they don't think this is serious so I don't need one. I have asked my spine doctor if he can get me one and am awaiting a reply.

OK, then ask your questions at the pain management appointment.

Write down your questions, keep a pain diary, and you'll be prepared for the appointment.

Thank you for the reply. I have been in touch with the surgeon and they keep telling me everytime that they want to refer me to pain management even though i already have an appointment with them and have told them that everytime that i have called them. it seems that they don't want to answer the questions or that they don't know the answer. The pain moves all over and it is very strange. I have also noticed that i have a slight swelling in the ankle and i have made them aware of this too and they seem not to care
