so, I went BACK to the docs.... they took xrays of my lumbar...and everything was normal! PRAISE GOD! but where is this pain coming from ? They are scheduling me for a MRI..... can sciatica pain go from lower to upper back? Or is the pain causing me stress? which then stress equals pain? any thoughts?

X- rays are good at showing fractures, dislocations and other bone problems in the spine, like narrowing disc spaces. But aren't really helpful in revealing disc bulges and nerve impingement, which is usually what causes sciatic pain.

As far as stress pain cycle, ime pain causes stress, and stress causes pain.

In a lot of cases it will show if a nerve's being compressed. As far as how long it will take to get better, it really depends on how bad it is.

The 1st step is generally medication and Physical Therapy, which often does help. Surgery is usually the last resort.

Do you know if I do the MRI...... If it shows I pulled a nerve.... How long will it be until it's better? And what do I do for it to heal?
