Spinal Surgery

I have a spinal cord injury on the right side of my neck, and as a result, my left arm and leg have become somewhat paralyzed. Walking now is a little bit complicated because I sometimes lose my balance when stepping forward. My C1 and C2 vertebrae have been damaged from playing football. I am trying to get back to a normal life as possible, but was wondering if spinal surgery would help my condition?

Dear Friend,
If the damage has surpassed 18-24 months, there the surgery, if done would be useful for preventing further damage to the bones / cords.
Physiotherapy would be the best way out in the present situation. However please do consult a good orthopaedician to find out if the damage is persistently increasing as if it's happening, then we really need to stabilize the bones, else collapse would be really harmful.
Hence best way is to get a brain and cervical spine MRI and surgeon's followup.

I just found out I have a syrinx at c2-3. I don't know alot about this injury, but they refered me to a neurosurgeon. I have severe burning in my right hand and pain from my right shoulder that radiates down my right arm.. I have chronic neck pain. My pain  is always there, just more severe at times. I have some numbing in my right  hand and most of my fingers. Could anyone inform me more on a syrinx and the problems that come along with having one. Mine is 9mm in size which is small I suppose.
