I will be doing just that.  The test itself didn't really bother me that much but ever since the test the pain and discomfort on that side has increased dramatically.  It had been hurting less as the focal point of my pain moved more to the base of my neck, but this brought it back in a hurry.

My EMG was for my shoulder thinking I had shoulder problems but it turned out that I had neck problems. They started at my wrist and went up my arm and even in my neck as well. I don't know if he continued going up because of the readings or that was his plan to begin with. Although if you think about it, if the readings are bad at your wrist the readings will continue to be the same all the way up to your neck. I was in extreme pain the whole time, every poke sent me through the roof. The dr thought I was nuts, but it really hurt. Maybe, double check with your dr and see why he didn't continue up to your neck.  I hope that this helped.

I was wondering for your EMG what area did they do the test at?  I am had an EMG done recently for neck problems (that I initially thought were shoulder problems) and when they did the test they didn't do anything near my neck at all, and the highest they went was about the midpoint between my elbow and shoulder.

I am sorry for all your pain, I was wondering if you've had an accident or has this come on all of a sudden? I have had 2 cervical fusions that have been unsucessful. But my first symptoms where hand, arm and neck pain. I thought it was my shoulder. I did have my AC join removed from my right shoulder and I was still having pain. Had an EMG test done and found I have pinched nerves in my neck. I had a MRI and CT scan and found bone spurs and degenerative bone disease. Arm pains, should pains could be a result of something going on in your neck.
I would get some test done and don't let doctors say it's nothing, it is something and the longer you wait the more permanent damage can be done to nerves if there are compressed.
Hope I've helped a little... Good Luck!
