Back pain between my middle and upperback left side

I'd like to start off with saying that I broke my neck 5 years ago and I have a lot of nerve damage, but recently (the last month or so) my back on my left side between the middle and upper section has begun to feel raw. There isn't a rash or anything, but it hurts to touch or even let my shirt brush against it and sometimes it hurts constantly. It's like a stinging feeling (like when you scrap your knee). Well, last night I started getting this ache pain in the section, and it hurts really bad there when I breathe in. Which is causing me to naturally breathe shallower. The pain goes into my back, rib cage, through my lung, and onto my left breast.

And I'm not sure if this is related, but about 9 months ago I got this cough that I couldn't get rid of. I had it for months and when I went to the doctor they asked me over and over if I smoked (which I don't) and then said I probably had asthma. I'm almost 20 years old and rather healthy. The cough kind of went away, although it comes about randomly sometimes, and I've noticed it gets really hard for me to breath with I go on hikes, runs, anything to get my heart racing.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what could be wrong with me.
I plan on going to the doctor soon.

Might be related to your smoking, but the raw, stinging feeling is another form of nerve pain. And parts of the neck (cervical spine) refer pain to that area.

Prior to my 1st neck surgery, I had very severe chest pain as well, it's not that common with cervical spine problems but it can happen.

Just saw that ur only 20, you really need to get this sorted out, you've got a long life ahead of you, believe me, you don't want to spend it in pain.
