Confused

Hi,I am confused.History: 3 discectomies at l5 s1 level.I recently had a CT scan and it showed a reherniation at that level again.I then saw the neuro guy and he ordered a MRI.It showed bilaterall nerve impingment with some flating of the tecal sac.He then sent me for the x-ray where you forward flex and backward  flex, and an Emg.Just had the Emg done and that guy said it didn't look too bad.My question is why do I have pain in my butt and leg and calf and foot if the nerves are working o.k.I do know I am not crazy, the pain is real. Please any answers would help.I do have to see the neuro guy in 3 months,I would really like to have some ideas about the types of questions to ask.I have been going through this for 8 years, I feel the same now as I did 8 years ago.I am tired and I would love to enjoy life again.I cannot sit for any time,I am finding it very difficult to walk, drive of even to stand and brush my teeth.Up to 8 years ago I had a very productive life,I work,I excerised,I enjoyed life.It is depressing to wake up and have pain, that is if I had any sleep.

Was that a myelogram you had done (the x ray where you stand-up)? It would show a pinched nerve, which would explain your symptoms, I beleive. The only time maybe you wouldn't see it is if it  "shows up" only when it's inflamed and/or irritated. I would look into having a myelogram done if it wasn't done yet, or maybe another myelogram when you are in "bad shape". Good luck,

Was just about to say the same as Sean (shinty) I think it is best to make it really hurt for an EMG.  However, having read your whole message I would definitely check out pirirformis syndrome.Look at Dr george Best and Dr. Aeron Filler's explanations on you tube, Thet do it better tham me. . . . There are also some stretching exercises on you tube too.
