Lumbo Sacral spain

Hi,
Recently i had a MRI scan on my lumber spain, they said what are all the findings are,

• Disc desiccation is noted in L4-5 disc.
• Diffuse disc bulge is noted in L4-5 with right foraminal extrusion (annular tear) with inferior migration of disc causing foraminal narrowing and nerve root compression.
• B/L Facetal arthropathy is noted at L1-2, L2-3, L3-4 and L4-5

so what does it mean, and any treatment without surgery?

Thanks

I had the same thing happen 6 years ago and got a series of 3 epidurals along with PT and It was gone in 2 weeks. The spinal cord ends at L-2 so there is not much risk in the epidurals in that area.THIS IS THE WAY I WOULD GO IF I WERE YOU!!! Do not go to a chiropractor for this!!!! Google epidural and you can actually see an animation of it being done.

I think it's so bad that a neurosurgeon/consultant/doctor would let you have this information without saying what it meant! !
The disc L4-5 is causing nerve root compression which is the problem area but there are many conservative treatments available without surgery. Surgery would always be the last option if all consevative treatments fail.
There are many gentle exercises and treatments available. A Physio, chiropracter or osteopath can advise and treat this kind of problem, using massage and/or acupuncture etc. Wasn't so sure about the last one but again should not be of great concern as no impingement is mentioned.
Medication can also help but not too much as it can give a false idea of how much you are able to do.

Your consultant should give you all the answers you need but always consider surgery as the last option.
take care
