What does this mean?

Hi there,

I got an MRI on my neck and I'm struggling to understand it... The overall alignment of the cervical spine is intact. Vertebral body heights are well maintained. Multilevel degenerative disc disease is present without significant disc space narrowing. The cervical cord signal intensity and cervicomedullary junction are unremarkable. At C3-4 there is minimal disc bulging as well as at C4-5 without central spinal canal or foraminal stenosis. Prominent degenerative facet changes are seen to the left at C4-5 with subchondral edema and cystic change. At C5-6 there is mild disc bulging and a superimposed small central disc protrusion resulting in mild compression of the ventral thecal sac and mild central spinal canal narrowing. There is no significant foraminal stenosis. At C6-7 there is mild disc bulging without significant central spinal canal or foraminal stenosis. Help please! - Kathie

Hi Kathy,

You're welcome, although I don't think that I was of much help.  Isn't it rediculous how long you have to wait, to see a doctor???

I get tired of running to different docs, but we must keep on trying.
I'm glad that I found this site also! Like you said, at least we know that we aren't alone!

Keep me posted, i hope that this doctor helps!
Take care,
Linda

Thanks Linda! I can't get in to see the doctor for a month, which is why I'm trying to figure this out now.

I'm sorry to hear about your back. You might even want to see a neurologist for your back to get some answers. I can't believe how many people live with pain every day. After a while, you begin to think that you're the only one, so this is a great site to let you know that you're not alone.

Best,
Kathie

Hi!
I'm not a doctor, but from what I can gather, it sounds like you have herniated, or bulging disks, which can be very painfull. They press on the nerves in your spinal canal.
I have them too, and they really hurt!  I find that if I sit for to long, that makes them hurt worse.
What has your doctor told you? I need to find an orthopedic doctor, my back is so bad that I have days that I can't walk.
Hope that you feel better, and find some answers soon,
Linda
