back problems

I have had a recent MRI and the impressions was , Grade 1 anterior spondylolisthesis of a few millimeters at L4-5 with spurring of the facets, fluid in the facet joints , and synovial cyst involving the right facet joint . there is severe narrowing of the right lateral recess which may be impinging the right l5 nerve root with some moderate to severe bilateral narrowing of the neural foramina, this is slightly worse on the left than the right . I have not seen a specialist yet , what does this mean in a opinion?

Sounds like your a good candidate for surgery. I've had 8 fusions to my neck and two in my lower back. The back surgery and the levels involved in your case are the most successful in my opinion. I would see a neurosurgeon rather than a ortho surgeon. There are minimally invasive back surgeries now and are much better that open back surgery that I had. Ask about all options and get second opinions if needed. I just had a total neck recontruction and it took 8 opinions untill I was comfortable with the surgeon. Good luck to you.

Hope I Helped

welcome to the forum!!

sounds like u have spinal stinosis...in ur lombar region ( lower back)....it depends on how much impinging is going on as to how it will be treated...PT, meds or surgery....surgery is always a last option. I am not sure about the fluid and the cyst

Did ur drs look at ur back because of a complaint u had?.....did they only look at ur lombar?

I am not a dr, but I do have spinal stinosis also, mine in the cervical spine.

Good luck
Godspeed
