Absolutely ChaCha, I think you need to write out a list of foods for the family, and refuse to buy take out anymore for any of them. It makes no sense to spend that kind of money every day, no one can afford that.

I think it might be a great idea to have the head of the bed propped up from underneath as well.

Maybe you can call Tammy's sister over and tell her that you need to start to have the groceries bought weekly, and she can also help with getting the bed propped up?

I too agree that it's ridiculous to have this huge taper for you with your medications, I've never heard of his being done to someone whose been on meds for almost 30 years, especially as your not in a hospital where you can be monitored.

I recommend you see another Dr. I know you suffer from anxiety and depression so there's no reason this Dr should have cut your medications in half.
Are you taking anything for the pain? If not, try over the counter medications like I recommended before and if that's not enough your Dr should give you a prescription pain med. If the pain Dr refuses to do this talk to your primary Dr and ask if they can prescribe pain meds. You need to let them know that this new Dr has also cut your anxiety and antidepressant meds in half.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Any kind of back problems usually causes a lot of pain.
Are you taking anything for your acid reflux? I take Nexium and it works well for me.
It sounds like you need to start buying your own food. Things that are easy to prepare and easy on your stomach.

I sleep on 3 pillows nearly sitting up.  If my head drops I mess up.  the acid backs up in my nose and mouth.  it burns so bad.  I stick carmel for chapped lips my nose and suck on peppermint candy. She only likes spicy food.  or fast food.  gets very expensive with 3 grown ups and a 8year old who will be 9 next week. and a 2year old boy and a 5 month old little girl. we got hamburgers it cost nearly $40,00  ridiculous. they were Halloween black buns. did not look good to eat but it tasted the same. thank you soo much  mandy876

I think your niece needs to avoid preparing spicy foods for you and switch to much plainer foods, as her spicy foods disagree with your stomach, would likely aggravate (perhaps greatly) acid reflux, and perhaps this is also partly why you've lost weight.

Some people with acid reflux find it helpful to have the head of their bedframe propped up a few inches.  The slight incline while sleeping can prove helpful.

thank you.  went to the pain manager doctor and she is cutting my pills in half and wants me off the nerve meds and my depression and going to put me on buspar.  She said my doctor only did the lower so she ordered  another mri for the middle and upper back.  I went last week still waiting for an appointment I guess I should call her and see when it is and where.  She wants me to take physical therapy.  I run out of breath really fast and nearly pass out this should be fun.  mandy876

Looking ahead to 85, are you taking vitamin D and calcium supplements and some magnesium to help maintain your bones?  Have you been screened for osteoporosis?

No, just because you're 75 does not mean your Dr doesn't care about you.
There are several treatment available. Injections are just one treatment. There's also exercises, wearing a back brace, taking over the counter pain medication when you need it and if that is not enough they might prescribe a prescription pain medication.
What you have sounds like degenerative disc disease, DDD. This is not uncommon. My sister was in her 30's when she was diagnosed with this and I was diagnosed last year when I was 53.
Go to pain management and listen to what they have to say. If I were you I wouldn't let them jump right in to giving you injections. Talk about other possible options to help with your pain first.
