hello,
on my lower back around where i have a tattoo is bothering me (like a pressure) throughout the day and worst at night. I spoke to a tattoo artist and dermatologist and because my skin is fine and the tattoo is completely healed that the pressure is not causes by the tattoo its just happened to be in the same area. Does this sound correct? Am I just experiencing back pain or is there something else I should be looking into thanks!
Pain is the result of pressure on nerves, generally from trapped lymphatic fluid. This, in turn is usually caused by an antigen (tattoo dye) or an infection. In the absence of infection an antigen is suspect.
Differential diagnosis is impossible on the internet.
If there is pain when the tattoo is depressed the liklihood is the cause is the tattoo, or more specifically the ink.
If the pain is deep, it may be due to nerve compression in the spinal area, or spinal stenosis.
I would not be so presumptious as to blame the tattoo artist, but I would not rule this etiology out.
You need another in-person medical opinion from another M.D.
