severe neck pain

I got electrocuted 2years ago and really banged my head. Ever since my neck has had pain. When i look down it sometimes feels the muscle is locking until i jar it out after a few attempts. I hav major loss of motion in all directions and recenctly it really hurts when around the base of my skull. I had an x ray and it showed slight wear and tear on tge bottom discs of my neck so i had an mri to see if there was nerve damage. There wasnt. My doctor says acupincture and physio will solve this but i have tried this before to no avail. Any ideas on what might be going on? Can i post my mri scans for someone to look at to?

Sounds like u may be experiencing "locked skull syndrome" a term those in the chiropratic world would understand. Its painful, and miserable to have to deal with!!! Have u tried a chiropracter, or any form of physical therapy? U've had two years for whatever it is in ur neck to continue out of alignment...it will take awhile to to help that situation, as there isn't a "quick fix". Take care, hope u feel better soon:)

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I did see a chiropractor for about 1 month going 3 times a week. He said the c curve of my neck had gone straight and I also had problrms in the middle and at lumbar. I was a bit wary of what he said cos I didn't know what I was looking at on the x rays. I stopped going as he seemed to be making it worse. I have done physio (electric pulses thingy and ultrasound) before I went to the consultant but it did nothing. Do you think a chiropractor is the way to go? I'm just about to start another physio and acupuncture treatment as requested by the consultant. Thanks again

For me, it all depends on the chiropracter. I am picky as to what therapies they practice. I've done my research and will only go to those that practice The Pettibon System which is an extensive full spine reguvenation program and they also have to practice decompression therapy. I have much faith in chiropractors...they are experts in the muscular/skeletal system:) I've never had acupuncture altho I've heard lots of good things about it. Let me know how it helps u, and take care. Keep me updated *hugs*

Hi. Have you ever heard of TMJ disorder? It effects the jaw an can go into the neck. I have had difficulty swallowing and opening my jaw fully with pain in the right side when biting down.

I got acupuncture tomorrow and I'll let you know how I get on
