A good book

I just wanted to share this book I have been reading. It is a story of a woman who is going to college to be a psychologist and finds out she is bipolar. The book is called "An Unquiet Mind" (A Memoir of Moods and Madness) By Kay Redfield Jamison. I am throughly enjoying the book and thought I would share. :-)

I liked an Unquiet Mind in which Kay tells her life story with bipolar I.  However, if you want to know more about bipolar then get Bipolar for Dummies. It is a good information book, well written with a little humor and it starts from the beginning, not assuming you have any knowledge about bipolar.

Kay Jamison is not only a good author but a good speaker. If you go to youtube and search for Kay Redfield Jamison several videos will come up. In the one with her standing in front of a brick wall she talks about her book Unquiet Mind.

Another book I really liked by her is Nothing Was the Same. It is about dealing with grief and the death of her husband.

Jamison's book is perhaps the best writing on what it means to struggle with manic depression.
I am new to this forum, found it trying to find out more about niacinamide, as part of my efforts to do what I can to improve my heatlh and mood naturally (to the extent this is possible).
I found an analysis of Jamison's book on another site, that I think everyone with a real, solid diagnosis of bipolar disorder should read:

It is not an easy read, and requires a calm mind and real commitment to appreciate everything this author brings up.
It seems to me at first glance that many of the questions that are posted to this forum seem to be from people who seriously question whether the problems they are dealing with in life are somehow 'proof' of mental illness.
Most of these questions and crises are ones that evey human being must face and deal with in life.
It really seems troubling to me that everything seems to be 'pathologized', turned into some 'mental illness' that can be disappeared by taking a ton of meds.  This is a really dangerous trend.
