Kay Jamison is not only a good author but a good speaker. If you go to youtube and search for Kay Redfield Jamison several videos will come up. In the one with her standing in front of a brick wall she talks about her book Unquiet Mind.
Another book I really liked by her is Nothing Was the Same. It is about dealing with grief and the death of her husband.
Jamison's book is perhaps the best writing on what it means to struggle with manic depression.
I am new to this forum, found it trying to find out more about niacinamide, as part of my efforts to do what I can to improve my heatlh and mood naturally (to the extent this is possible).
I found an analysis of Jamison's book on another site, that I think everyone with a real, solid diagnosis of bipolar disorder should read:

It is not an easy read, and requires a calm mind and real commitment to appreciate everything this author brings up.
It seems to me at first glance that many of the questions that are posted to this forum seem to be from people who seriously question whether the problems they are dealing with in life are somehow 'proof' of mental illness.
Most of these questions and crises are ones that evey human being must face and deal with in life.
It really seems troubling to me that everything seems to be 'pathologized', turned into some 'mental illness' that can be disappeared by taking a ton of meds. This is a really dangerous trend.
I am always looking for good books about mental illness... thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you for shearing that, i have heard of it but haven't read it myself, but i might look at getting it.
