Bipolar 2 RAPID CYCLER

I am such a rapid cycler, that I can go from being in a great mood, to bursting into tears, anger, to depression, to happiness, etc within a matter of hours. Does anyone else suffer from such rapid cycling? What can I do? I am on Lamictal and celexa.

I've had that problem as well. I'm on Lamictal and Seroquel, and since I started the Seroquel I've been having more severe mood swings than usual--a couple of weeks ago I broke down into tears and sobbed for 2 hours because I was watching my favorite TV show and it made me remember something upsetting. My doctor seemed to think that the Lamictal was more of the problem, however, and upped my Seroquel dosage. How long have you been taking the medications?

My advice is to check online for more info on them (you can just go on Google---there's this site called drugs.com that I found helpful when researching Seroquel) and talk to your doctor after if you think your medication is the problem. I've also heard that your diet can affect it--if you're not eating healthy or not eating a lot for whatever reason, that could be a problem as well. Monitor your mood for a week or two, making note of what mood you're in, and then writing down what time it changes, to get a feel for how long each episode lasts. You can then show that to your doctor and (s)he will let you know what to do. I hope you get to feeling better--super-rapid cycling *****.

Welcome to the forum.

I think you should see a holistic/functional medicine doctor.
It sounds like you have a serious hormonal imbalance.

Please tell us more about yourself.

Best regards.
Niko
