Community Support

I am not sure where I should post this but I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about "community support" jobs ending. I am in this position and my community support person told me my Psychiatrist will not see me just for meds and I have been seeing her for years. My Psychiatrist said I have to be involved with something other than just getting my meds from her. I have a Therapist but she is not with this organization. Now, I am stressed out and do not know what I am going to do. I know I will have to find a new Psychiatrist but I do not know any others. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I was told today that the agency had lost a lot of government grant money and that they were letting a lot of mental health patients go from that agency. I was also told that "community support" people were losing their jobs and the ones that were there did not know how long they would continue to be employed.

It would depend what's going on. If one agency closed that would be one thing but if a whole group of agencies were defunded because of a reduction in government grants towards mental health services that would be another. Either way you might want to speak to your local NAMI chapter or the IL centers as I have mentioned as any reduction in mental health services is a loss for many people and if its due to a reduction in funding either or both group should advocate to have it reinstated. Inform them and ask what is going on.
