When I'm having panic attacks I get so dizzy I feel like the whole world is swinging around me full sprint. And I get very sick to my stomach and want to lay down. Also shortness of breath.

Some medications have the side effect of orthostatic hypotension. That is dizziness when you get up from sitting or lying down. It passes quickly so it may not be what you have.

Dizziness is a sign of anxiety. The heart rate goes up and it causes that.

I don't think it is a sign of hypomania unless it is accompanied by other signs such as increased energy. Although anxiety can be a symptom of hypomania for me.

I  had an attact of (very severe dizziness) nigfht before last, so severe my Husband called 911, I felt like I was surely having a stroke or something worse, never has it happened to me before, it was out of the blue, funny thing is, I suffer from heart paulpatations, on going for 5 years now, lately hardly any at all untill 2 days ago, my heart jumped & as normal I just try to breath & be calm but it stated beating reay fast, then it was panic zone, I tried different things all day, didn't slow it down, evening, it finally slowed down way down, I take medication for High PB & it makes my heart beat really slow, it continued to beat slow, untiul right after dinner the next day, just setting there wahtching tv with my Husband I felt it coming on, the room started spinning, I tried to walk, but couldn't even stand up, fell over on to the coffee table, then on the floor, my Husband called 911,finally after about 2 minutes, it just quit, I was very shaken up though, the paramedics gave me an EKG & said my heart was fine, my everything was fine, I declined going to the hospital, doctors app. tomorrow, right now I'm so scared to even take a shower or drive my car, so scared it's going to happen again..I have been dieting very extreme dieting but I think I always manage to eat something, every day, just a wholel ot less.. some think that is what caused it, I don't think so, I tend to think the worst, a brain tumor, something really bad,I used to be severely depressed, was getting so much better until now..i'm just so afraid..thanks for letting me get this off my chest

Hi there sweetie. I just read your post and realize we have/had quite a few symptoms in common. About three years ago I was diagnosed with panic attacks and was treated with Diazapam. It never worked. Even at 60mgs a day. Along with that, I was constantly dizzy, had a heavy pressure in my head, ears popping, headaches, post nasal drip, vertigo, distorted vision, what I thought were heart palpitations in my throat, flushing ( heat ) of the body, chest eand neck pain, pain in my muscles and a slight tingling in my arms and legs at times. To make a long story short, and after a million different medical tests, I found out that I had severe acid reflux disease and I was dangerously low on Vitamin D. While I never experienced the usual burning sensation associated with acid reflux, I did have other common and less common symptoms of the disease. For instance, the dizziness, the heavy pressure in my head, the popping in my ears, the vertigo and the post nasal drip, were the signs that acid was rising far beyond my esophagus and into my sinus cavity. ( I was a smoker and didn't realize that nicotine actually relaxes the esophagus and allows twice as much acid to rise without any restriction. ) Secondly, since I couldn't eat any dairy products (Vitimin D) by having acid reflux, ( not that I knew that then. i just thought it made me throw up ) along with the fact that I never left my house (Vitimin D. The sun) for fear I would freak out in the middle of a shopping mall with a panic attack, my body was starved for Vitamin D. This was the cause of the body flushes and significantly added to the dizziness and painc.  You see, both conditions can absolutely mimic panic attacks, as well as the other symptoms I discussed earlier in this post. I suppose I'm trying to say, if you are ever diagnosed with high anxiety, panic attacks or PTSD and to you, the diagnosis just doesn't fit who you know you are. Or, if psychotropic or sinus medications are prescribed and is has no notable effect, don't assume you're crazy or have a brain tumor. Look at other options. Hell, try a couple of TUMS and see if it helps a bit. I went three years thinking I was completely insane while assuming the worst. Another clue would be that panic attacks aren't incessant by nature and don't usually don't last ten hours to days on end. After being treated with Tagament and prescription Vitamin D, I was back to normal. One last thing, there are several other reasons why one could easily believe they are having panic attacks. Food allergies are one. A histamine intolerance is another. Even the body's response to high levels of Vitamin B can fool even the best of Doctors. Even alcoholism can cause most of these symptoms. Ask questions people. Don't be afraid. Document everything. What were you doing or eating prior to your dizzy spells or panic attacks. You won't
be sorry. Best of luck to all of you.

You just described all of my worst symptoms. I use SAD light, and use lots of extra supplements, including D. I'm a little confused about our histamine intolerance and high B vitamines. I know about histamine intolerance and suspect I have it, but how does that relate to high B's ?

Hi,  I have severe dizzy spells and my pdoc said this was due to anxiety/bipolar (she wasnt very clear) she said the Zyprexa should help with that but then I read the side effects of that and dizziness is one of them???!!!  It is worth getting it checked that it isn't something else though, like an inner ear infection or something.

Severe dizziness can be a sign of anxiety. Anxiety can cause an increased heart rate which can in turn cause dizziness. A lot of people with unexplained cardiac problems such as increased HR and dizziness get labeled with anxiety. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor about it to rule out other possibilities.
