Not sure if it is all the exercise I'm doing but I'm feeling really good at the moment. With all the training I'm doing and getting a good doctor I've been able to reduce my medication now to simply supplements and the odd sleeping tablet. I've been able to get off the Benzo's and don't really suffer from anxiety anymore.
Not that I wouldn't take medication if I needed it, big believer in medication as needed.
There is often posts of sadness and depression in here, which is good that we are able to have this as a support. But I also thought we should put up some success stories as well. 3 years ago I suffered so badly from anxiety I was afraid of water and terrified of the open water. Now in 8 weeks time I'll be doing the Hawaii Ironman 70.3 where I'll be swimming 1.9km in the ocean in a race.
It's been such a fight back but exercise has made a massive difference. I feel so happy and just thought you should know, it's not all bad out there. Even when you are feeling at your worst and hit a wall, try not to let it get you down.
Just pick yourself, dust yourself off and go left and right to look for the door to get you through that wall.
It might be that you need to find a new medication, new doctor or simply start exercising, it will get better.
One of the things I did to help me through the really hard times was to put together a bucketlist. Things to do before I die, I asked people to give me ideas of things to do, to help me look forward and see there is so much more to get out of life.
Whether it be a nudie run in Antartica, go see the Sistine Chapel, watch the fireworks in Sydney harbor or do the Hawaii Ironman 70.3 there is so much fun to have out there. So much to live for.
Big hugs to anyone feeling down, I sincerely mean it. You're awesome, special and people care and love you.
