I have been off Lamictal for 34 weeks due to pregnancy didn't have any episodes in mood until third trimester. Having baby this week can't wait to start it again.
I have been on lamotragine (generic Lamictal) for 7 years, no physical addictive qualities. I am recovering addict, I don't even take Nyquil. I have severe depressive mood swings without it. I tried lithium first: gained weight. Hated it.
Lith and Depa have been know for weight gain, so Drs are now prescribing the lamictal instead. I am on it. I have nothing good to say about it. It keeps me sad as can be. I stay in bed all day. I moved to Florida for the sunshine but its no use.
I don't think lamictal is addictive. I've been on many high and low doses over the last 10 yrs: never experienced side effects and never relieved any symptoms. "I am more manic and very rarely depressed when I'm not medicated." Lamictal is prescribed for people who lean more towards the depressive side than manic side and/or hypomania. Did you try lithium or depakote first? They are usually the first prescribed mood stabilizers for mania.
Paxil withdraw, from what I have heard, can be physically challenging. I wouldn't experiment with it further but if you decide to come off of it let your dr know. Lamictal is not physically addictive.
I don't do well with Lamictal. Although I can't answer about the addiction
I used to take Seraquell at night for a mood stabilizer.
I used to take Lamictal, and no, I was never warned of any addictive properties. I had no issues getting off it. Usually, if something is potentially addictive, the doctor will let you know and monitor closely for signs of addiction.
