Is Spring making anyone feel better? Getting outdoors? Planting any kind of garden?

DLA
Spring has definately sprung around here and I've been outside working.  I love it.  Windows open and fresh air pooring in.  At about 35mph!  lol  It's been a tad windy here.  :-}{

We have planted most of the vegetable garden.  Some of it twice now.  DH didn't think it necessary to cover up the plants before it frosted.  Mm huh!  Am still waiting to get the rest of it out, but the bottom half of the garden has been too wet to work in.

My goofy husband planted ALL the onions together without seperating any of them.  We have green onions, yellow, onions, and red onions all togethered mixed up in one row!  Don't know how on earth we're suppose to know which onions to pull now and which to let grow.  Guess there will be a lot of replanting when we pull up the wrong ones.

Also been getting my flower beds and pots filled with beautiful plants.  My son's cactuses are growing like made this year.  It's mainly prickly pears, which grow wild here.  He dug them up and planted them.  Later this summer they will have the most beautiful orange blooms on them.  He is so excited.

Still have to get my new "antique garden" done.  Have some really old farm equipment that I'm going to display in a sort of bed, then I'm going to put vining flowers in pots around it to they will grow wildly all through the stuff.  I'm so excited about getting that done.  Think I'm going to get the stuff to do it tomorrow.

I don't know, I don't think so.  I got it because I have a really pretty angel figurine that I wanted to set in front of it!!  So I have my angels!

Does the angel plant bloom angels?  lol  Wouldn't that be neat to have a flower that looked like an angel?  I know the green and yellow plant, but of course I can't remember it's name.

A peace lilly, an angel plant and some kind of cool looking plant that was not labled.  It has long green and yellow leaves.  Really neat!

Cool.  Good for Dad!

What kind of plants did you get?  Don't they just make you feel good?  Wish my indoor plants bloomed.  They are just shades of green.  Kinda boring.  May have to stick some flowers or something in them.

Good Idea!!  Hmm...I have been wanting indoor roses again.  However, I felt inspired to plant new plants today so off to Wally world I went.  I got two really cool looking plants so now I have four in my living room.  I am so glad he moved out and took that surround sound system because now I have room to put plants on my TV cabinet!!  hee hee...  It was his parents and they gave it to us when he was still here.  His dad said I could have it along with the other TV and a dresser!  YIPEE.....  It is all really nice too and solid oak!

Ok, that was mean.  Spray a little pepper spray on them and she will learn to leave them alone.  It will burn her mouth, but she'll get the message.  It's a common method.  Just don't spray yourself.

Maybe try growing her some cat nip?  Boy, no poinsetias for you, huh?  Get some mistletoe and let her try a little bit of it once, maybe that would break her.  :(  Sorry, that's mean, but it worked on my cat.  After he spent 2 days sick as the proverbial dog he quit eating plants.  But, well, it was a fight to get somebody to clean up the mess.  Bluuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have tried that, Serra eats them.  I had a beautiful indoor rose bush and she ate the entire thing.  GRRR......  It needed sunlight so I could not prop it up on a higher shelf near a window the way my apartment is set up.  I have a peace lilly on top of my TV cabinet and a philadentrum (sp?) hanging in the corner of the living room.  I had to drap the longer strands of it up over the planter, because again, Serra ate them.  I had the peace lilly on a low shelf next to the window and again, she ate part of it.  Crazy cat.  I got her cat grass and she did not like it!  I buy myself fresh flowers a lot.  I love carnations and they last for over 2 weeks at a time.  So that is nice.  I have done flower beds at other places I have lived and love doing it.  I also want a garden one day!!

Good for your trees!  In the ice storm of 2000 we lost most of our big trees.  The tops out of them at the very least.  Still looks awful around here all these years later.

Am jealous, I don't have much in bloom right now.  I'm getting ready to plant wild flowers in my whiskey barrels to day.  I just love the wild flowers.  Last year with all the rain we got there were so many that my dh and I had never seen before.  It was so neat just to drive down the highway and check out all the different flowers.  Hope it's that way again this year.  Without quite so much rain.

Can you post any pictures of your flowers?  We'd all love to see them!

Spring is my absolutly favorite season. I too have been working madly in the garden. I am so relieved to see the trees  and grass greening up. winter gets so hard on me.I planted lots of wildflower seeds this week and I check them everyday to see what has come up. I was very lucky during the ice storm in Dec not to have had much tree damage.
everyone just plants some pots of floweres and that will make you feel so good . I love to container garden as well. that new moisture control miracle grow soil is wonderful.
I am looking out the office window at my flower bed at all the perennials I ahve blooming.

Love the smell of freshly mown grass.  The smell of the earth as I'm planting in it.  The sounds of all the birds feeding at my feeders.  LOVE to watch the golden finches that come to my feeders in droves.  Would love to be able to take pictures of them, but if I'm out there they are not.

Will have to take some pictures when everything starts blooming and see if I can't upload them.  Who knows if I'll be able to figure that out or not.

When it gets to be about 110* here and we're running short on water I go to the dollar store and get bright pretty fake flowers and fill all my pots and such.  Still makes it look so much prettier than just having the brown burned up yard that is raining dead leaves.

Crystlas, can't you plant some things indoors to bloom and look gorgeous.  If you have some kind of a balcony you could fill it with plants.  There's an apt close to hear that has ivy all over the landing at the entry way.  The 2 apts that use it must go together to keep all the beautiful flowers on the landing going.  It's gorgeous.

It always makes me feel good to see something growing that I planted and tended myself.  Is such a feeling of accomplishment.

Sounds so lovely!  You should post some pics when you guys are done!  I have had the windows open for the past few days.  I am hoping with better sleep tonight, that I will feel normally.  I am groggy tired right now.  I do love the fresh smells of spring.  I bet it is much nicer in the boonies than in the city!

I love spring and I love to enjoy other people's gardens, but unfortunately the only thing I have managed to grow successfully in my life is a tiny cactus.  I live in far west Texas and we have wild cactus and tons of wind out here to.  I thought I was going to blow away yesterday.  The bluebonnets are blooming in the mountains south of here and it is just so beautiful it is hard not to smile.  If it ever decides to rain again it will be even more beautiful.  It almost seems like there is going to be another dust bowl situation out here some days!

I am so excited about spring.  It was getting so tiring with all of the cold weather and the snow..I live in Michigan and this has been the worst year in a very very long time for snow.  It's about 70 here today and my kids and I were outside playing.  I decided it was time to clean out the garage and start getting up the dead leaves....I hate looking at them.  I've never been good at gardening (if anyone ever had a black thumb, that would be me) but I'm thinking about trying it again.  Anything to give me something to do and get me outside.  This is our first year living in a house and the boys love not being stuck in an apartment with no room all day.  It's wonderful!  Such a mood booster.
