My Webcam is Spying on Me!

Recently, I have started to get really paranoid. One example: my webcam stopped working for some reason, and now I am convinced that someone has hacked into it (or whatever, I don't really know much about computers) and that they are watching everything I do. I am really starting to freak out, and although I know this isn't rational and that webcams do stop working for completely innocent reasons, I need to be sure. Can somebody please tell me what I should do about this?

I have a temporary solution - stick something over the webcam so that it does not bother you in the meantime

Thank you :) I think its good that I know its irrational, but I don't think its good that I have these thoughts in the first place. I will talk to my doctors when I see them next.

If it'll help, try covering it with a towel or something or take it out of the room or face it away from where you are.  But definitely see a doctor to get some other suggestions and make sure there isn't something deeper underlying the paranoia.

This is impossible technically,if its not working it cant be on so no one can hack and spy on you.Its good you realize this is irrational,I strongly suggest you see a doc before it gets worse.Lily
