Rapid cycling

I got diagnosed by my GP originally as Bipolar II with Rapid Cycling. This new pdoc that my GP referred me to says I am in fact Bipolar I ....so there is no dispute about having the bipolar....just the difference of opinion in which one I am. The pdoc says that normally Bipolar II doesn't cause you to spend all this money.....so...

However when I mentioned the rapid cycling he said that was just my personality. First of all, with what has been going on lately....I feel like I have lost my personality but I seem to recall .....being happy or cheerful or at least being able to fake it really well when I wasn't. I actually doubted my dx at first because of the rapid cycling I was feeling...I figured people don't change moods that frequently with a spur of a little thing to trigger it....sometimes more than twice a day!!!!!

So is this just Personality or what? I am confused.

yes there is a reason they call it "practicing medicine." I know I myself get a little confused ove which bi polar I am so I keep it simple and just say I am bi polar

Unfortunatly excessive sprending is a symptom of bi polar.Just google it and see how many descriptions include this.
I myself be DX have spent more money and raised debt on credit cards without a clue how I was going to pay it back during manic periods.
then I would crash  into depression and try to figure out how I was going to pay off that ebt and then I would go ito deeper depreesion. Then I would cycle manic and get 2 jobs and you can see where I am going with this

When I finally got the psychiatrist and therapist I have now.,we came with  a lifestyle  change plan.
Healthy diet ,regular rest, exercise, meds and therapy.
It hasnt happened over night but it has happened and it is getting better every day.I feel great and life is good.
Keep coming here and we can help you through this.
BTW  I accepted your invitation Thanks  so much.

Hi

Don't ever be confused. My experience about BP is that pdocs don't know and just guess like me and you. brain illnesses are very tricky and damn difficult.

The only wise pdocs I found is one who found me so distressed about diagnosis told me briefly it's not important what you have because sometimes meds are the same. Medicine is unfortunately not a science per se it's symptomatic when you have that and that which resembles this and that you take this particular drugs.
