Skipping school and bipolar

I have Bipolar type 1 and I am currently on medication.  I have a problem with getting up to go to school and to stay there once I am there.  I am in cosmetology school and dont know what my problem is.  The apathy is killing me.  Does anyone know how to help with this?

It would be helpful to talk to a therapist about this to find out if you are apathetic for a reason. Like perhaps you just really don't like school and made a mistake in going or felt pressure to go. Or if the apathy is medication related.

Because you will regret not finishing your schooling. I know I do. Mine for different reasons than yours but the result is the same. Half a degree isn't worth the paper it is written on. I did go and finish a certificate which allowed me the opportunity to have a career (which I currently can't use because I am too sick to work full time. I am at a dead end receptionist job but hope that a med change or the counselling I am getting will allow me to go back full time) And trust me that working at McDonalds or retail because that is what a high school education usually gets you isn't going to be any fun. I don't know if fear is a motivator for you or not but not getting a secondary education pretty much guarantees living at or below the poverty line.

I struggle with lack motivation, and unfortunately there is no medication that can boost it and make you get up. Its a hard one indeed! I would talk to your doctor or therapist if you have one and see if they have any ideas, or even your school councilor. For me, having someone wake me up and kinda drag me out of bed can help with that. But really i need an answer to this to, my will power even for the most important things is shockingly bad.

Sorry I couldn't help more

Apathy is a normal mood and should pass with time. While you're waiting, you may want to consult with your doctor and also have your friends and family help keep you motivated. I hope this helps.
