Sleeping Pill suggestion

I haven't slept thru the night in at lest 6 months. Before That, I go thru the same boughts.
I awake around 3:00 every morning, wide awake. Go to bed about 11:00, sometimes earlier. No naps when I'm not really depressed in a bad way.  I have tried Trazadone, Ambien and Lunesta in the past years. They all keep me awake and once I finally sleep I'm up in the middle of the night wide awake.  Any suggestions on a pill to keep me asleep that I can ask my pdoc to try. She just gives me more klonipin and Visteral and that's not working.

I forgot to mention that today I saw my pdoc. She gave me a rx for Rozem, a sleeping pill but wants me to try melatonin first. So that's what I'll do.

Thanks Maxy, I have so much time on my hands it's terrible. In know I need to sleep so I do bot make the bipolar and deal with my frequent episodes. My pdoc says sleep is very important. Yes I think meds have a major role. It's been a common problem of mine.

Hi Crystal, are you days so filled you need the sleep to cope?
I've been sleeping less since med changes.
I just get up. Go on Medhelp, answer emls, have a snack. Stuff that's not too stimulating. Listening to music helps. ( I've been waking at 3:30am.
Then after a few hours I try to sleep again.
Meds? Seraquell & Zonisamide was lights out. I could sleep 10 hours. But my Pdoc got me off these. It was time.
My husband takes natural stuff. Melatonin. Get it at health store.
Over the counter any stuff that's PM. Like Tylonol PM. ( I don't like this stuff though.  Maxy

Ambien keeps you awake? Unusual. Maybe one of the meds is making you hypomanic and/or stimulating you? I had that problem on Prozac. I'd go to bed and wake up full of energy at 4AM and wanted to jog around the block - I did several times.

You could try asking about Rozerem which is an FDA approved medication that works in a similar way to melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is non addictive. Some people find it helpful although each person responds differently to each medication.
