Hey there spider.  How is it going?!  So, latuda.  The first thing I can tell you is that you should communicate any side effects to your doctor.  They may work on dosing or he/she may have pointers for you.  You are taking this after a meal or snack?  Important to do so.  Common side effects do include stomach issues, unfortunately. Since there is a range of doses, do they start slow and titrate you up?  How long have you been taking it?

Hi 8 days so far.
So, my understanding is that some things take a bit of time.  Did your doctor give you a reference point for that?  I know so often they make adjustments in terms of dose.  Does taking it with food help at all?

I have been seeing ads about the negative results of Latuda and wonder why it's still on the market.  My 50-+ daughter was given the drug some years ago for bipolarism and now has Parkinson's or tardive dyskinesia - which is permanent!  Her hands shake uncontrollably and she can hardly walk for the weakness in her legs.

I have a new question the Latuda I’m no longer on but I am taking Trintelex now and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with that

Hi spider!  Was latuda not a good match? I guess that trintelex is different than other SSRI's because it also works by direct modulation of various serotonin receptors and doesn't just block serotonin reuptake.  Kind of an interesting drug. How long have you been on it?  I've heard good things about it.  I don't know why it is less commonly used other than SSRI's.  Seems to have a good history of working with the same tolerable side effect profile. I really hope it works for you! Tell us how it is going as I'd like to know more about it.
I know I already asked . . . was wondering your thoughts on latuda?  It's a med suggested as adjunctive therapy for my son and am wondering about your experience.
My understanding, Mom, is that all SSRIs direct serotonin to selected receptors along with blocking reuptake.  This is one of the reasons for the bad withdrawals, as the receptors that were no longer thought to be necessary by the brain have to wake up again and start working again when you stop the med, which is thought to be one of the main causes of the common withdrawal effect of brain zaps.  This is also why and how so many different drugs in the same class got patents.  Remember, you can't get a patent for something somebody else already invented, so one of the things they do differently with different drugs is target different receptors.
The Latuda was not a good match for me it gave me upset stomach. Turns out the Trintellex that I’m taking is not working very well for me either I think I’m going to wean myself off of it it’s giving me nausea and vomiting plus I’m still not symptom-free of my depression that’s for sure I can’t do art is feeling as I want to and I’m still kind of depressed and unable to do a lot of the things that I normally would do
spider6, that stinks.  I feel for you.  As I watch my son struggle with anxiety and depression, it's just so debilitating.  And sometimes his mental state causes him not to have the ability to do the things that help make him better.  Vicious cycle.  I assume you tried seroquel or abilify?
Lithium?  Some I talk to describe that as a miracle mineral.  I don't know, have not experienced it myself but with all the options out there, I just hope they can find something that gives you relief without making you miserable in the process.

Hi spider!  I wanted to see how you are doing?    I am still wondering if lithium would be a fit for you. Also, something that we did with my son which I think is a game changer with medication is that we did a genesite test.  Our insurance covered it and they have options if you don't have insurance.  But it was pretty revealing for my son.  It looks at how you metabolize medications, all medications and helps a doctor guide you.  We found out that my son, for example, tested positive the gene mutation that doesn't allow him to metabolize folic acid. So he is deficient in folate.  Folate is involved in serotonin, norepinphrine and dopamine receptors.  He now takes a prescription methylized folate.  By increasing those receptors, medication is supposed to work better.  And ketamine treatment is another option.  Anyway, was just thinking of you and wanted to see how it is going.

Thank you for thinking of me but I’ve been on about five different antidepressant since the Latuda I just started taking mirtazapine. On day 4. It makes you very sleepy so I have to take it at night time but I am feeling a lot calmer since taking it just for four days so will hopefully see if it will help with the depression at all but it’s helping with anxiety
I’m glad your son is on the upswing.
He 'was' on the upswing.  He completely deteriorated and we had an emergency meeting with his psych last night and are stopping his med and starting a new one today.  Sigh.  It's a LOT of work to find the right medication. I am glad that your anxiety is at least better for now with the mirtazpine.  I've heard good things about that drug.  I don't know where my son is headed medication wise.  He is starting pristiq.  He's going to have to get his wisdom teeth out and I told him about the half a xanax before he gets to the doctors office before anesthesia.  I told him it relaxes you and he wanted to know why no one is giving that to him right now.  It's so hard to live in the constant state of tension, depression, worry, sadness.  I feel for him. You.  Well, and me as I'm so up and down right now myself trying to stay strong through it all.  Anyway, stay in touch and let me know how the mirtazapine goes.

Hey spider.  It's me again checking on you.  I hope you are doing okay.  I don't know why I keep coming back to this thread but I just find myself wondering how you are doing.
