when you shut your eyes.....

Hi all,

When I shut my eyes to go to sleep, I sometimes see faces. These faces look like normal people, not mad or happy just neutral faces. They look sort of like a negative from a photograph.....

Do others see this?

BTW, I have bipolar and am on abilify and suboxone....This combo seems to be working well! Thanks!

It's pretty common, even in people who are not on meds.

You are probably experiencing what's called 'sleep paralysis.'  It happens when you wake in the wrong part of your sleep cycle.  I've had it a couple of times, and it is very weird.  Here is more info:

I have these too! Sometimes I see a ball of string tying into knots, then straightening out, I always assume its anxiety.

A few times in the last month I have fully awoken to find that my whole body is paralysed, it is so scary, has anyone experienced that?

That can be normal especially if it's happening to you as you fall asleep or wake up.

They are visual halucinations. Goodness knows what causes them. Lot's of people have them who don't have psychiatric disorders.

Don't be concerned.
