Has anyone had problems conceiving after NORAPLANT?

When I was 18 I got pregnant withmy first child. I gave birth to him when I was 19. 3 weeks after giving birth to my son I became pregnant with Twins. I made it to my 4th month of pregnacy in which sadly I miscarried. The doctor recomended I gaev my body some time to rest. and Offered Noraplant. he said It could be removed  when ever I felt at a later date.  Well After 1  year of 80 lb weight gain  and migraine headaches  I went to my doctor and told him of my syptoms. He prescribbed IBprofen for the migraines and sent me on my marry way.  Well for the remainder of the year I went back and forth complainingof the pain in my arm and the headaches and the steady weight gain. Finally 2 yeas and 3 months later they removed the noraplant in a painful way. I felt like they where cutting my arm off.
Any way I finally got the noraplant removed in 1997 I was told it would only take a short time for me to get pregnant they said it would be 6months - 1 year.
DUring this time The weight gain jumped another 40 lbs  and and the migrains have been on and off alot less from before. My last pregnancy ended in Miscariage again.
ANd in 2001 I had to have my right OVARY AND FALLOPIAN tube removed due to cysts.

HAS any one gone through any of this? or something of this sort? Is there a class action suit? If any one has gone through this have they had a baby  healthy following this?

I have all the same symtoms!! I did have a son after the Norplant was removed but had to have minor surgery to remove scared tissue from my falopian tubes. I was not able to conceive a second time and now i'm too old to try.

Headache and cheast pain still continue, weight gain is out of control!! And to top it off my arm just recently started hurting and i found out that the doctor left one stick in my arm. Would love to sue!! I called him to let him know he left it in and he pretty much told me he doesnt doo that anymore .... so i guess i'm left to pay for the removal of the piece he left in my arm. GREAT!!  WHERE IS THE LAWYER???

I had Norplant inserted at age 20 after my first child. 2 yrs later had it removed because I was constantly bleeding and was put on birth control pills. Thought it was rediculas to be on both. I then tried to concieve a second child it took two horrendous years with two misscarrages. I then had some trouble the first trimester was bed ridden for those three months. I now have 4 children . But have never had a regular period since they are always 14 days or more very frustrating!

I had my norplant inserted 6 weeks after my son's birth in 2007 and I was 22yrs old. soon after I started having abnormal periods that would last for weeks and since then I have gained about 30kg and struggle with my weight no matter how much I exercise or eat right it just wont come off. In Dec 2009 I went to my doctor to get it removed, the process was painful and one of the rods could not be found its still somewher in my arm but my doctor assured me that it would not work on its own, since then I have been trying for a second child and just cant seem to conceive. I'm in Zimbabwe and my doctor has advised me to go for a scan to try and locate the rod and if cant remove it I will have to opt for an operation of which am very scared coz have never been operated on my whole life. I am so angry because now I have to live with the after effects of a norplant which doctors nevr tell you truthfully about, Iam now over weight and still have abnormal periods and am now scared of not being able to concieve again. I so much wanted a second child but its just not happening.

I used norplants for 7 years. the first set was removed after the 5 years and a second set put in...after another 2 years I had weight gain and problems with my health and my doctor suggested I get them removed.  They could not get them out at first and after two attempts they were removed but there was some nerve damage to my arm and I have no feeling down the one side of my arm to my hand.  My husband and I tried to have a baby but we had 6 micarriages.  I then did some research and discovered that it made my body extremely low on progesterone.  I took the information to my obgyn and he proscribed progesterone to me and I used it according to his directions for two month and found out I was pregnant..I continued using the progesterone until the 12th week of pregnancy and went on to delivering a healthy baby.  We again tried later and did the same with the progesterone and was able to have another child.  Norplants make your body unable to produce progesterone on its own and without it the baby cannot implant correctly and the pregnancy will be lost.  I do not know of any law suits with Norplants being help responsible for miscarriages.  If anyone has any information about any lawsuit I would be very interested in hearing about it.

about a month after I had my daughter in 1999, I had the Noraplant inserted in my arm.  Right from the start, I had complications.  Bleeding, cramping, vomiting, that sort of thing.  I only had it in for a year and asked the doctor to take it out.  Even with the Noraplant removed, I still had problems.  The cramps, vomiting, bleeding kept getting worse and worse.  It became like clock work.  Week 1, I would have my cycle, which was very heavy had to change every hour, Week 2, I would get the double over cramping and vomiting every 20 minutes for that week, at the end of week 2, I would have to go to the hospital to get rehydrated, because I was so lethargic and passing out because I couldn't hold anything down.  Well, this went on for about 4 1/2 years after the Noraplant was removed.  My doctor kept telling me that I had IBS, and I kept telling him no there was something wrong.  Well, finally he referred me to a specialist.  Turns out that the estrogen that is found in the Noraplant caused Uterine Fibroids to grow in my uterus.  The Fibroids had gone so long that the doctors couldn't do anything about it.   And so, in May of 2004 at the age of 23 years old I had to have a hysterectomy.  The surgeon showed me a picture of what was once my uterus and it passed a six inch ruler by about an inch.  The only thing I have left are my ovaries.   I tried calling lawyers, but the "Statutes of Limitations" had run out for me by about 3 months I think it was.  I know that I can't do anything about my situation now, but I just hope that my situation will help someone else who may be going through the same thing that I went through.

Hello ladies I have been researching this noraplant, this is a world wide problem, their are so many victims around the world. Doctors are afraid to speak the truth because we were there geeney pigs and they  have made lots of money from the government by promoting this as a safe birth control. I for one, am very damn angry. I wish the table could be turned.  I guess we all  have to connect and sue these health facilitity's;. It is amazing how many females are unaware of the symptons and pain this thing causes to your life. Every doctor I approach decline to take me has a patient to remove my noraplant. And the government has made laws to try to prevent women from suing the clinics or doctors that have placed this products in our arms.  I pray that I get help soon, this is so stressful, and I want a child so bad, so please do your research, I beg you!  I placed my email in the my profile but they won't show it. ***@****  I am blogging every chance I get Hell Yes I am Bitter about this,  so please pass this information on . If anyone can relay information to me as to how to get this out of my arm please help me, two one four, four, seven six, eight six seven four any time . I believe and helping anyone I can because God will bless me and it is time we take a stand!  Thank You and Unity is POWER!
