Overweight and using nexplanon

Hi, I’m currently 5’5 and  345lbs when I got the implant put in I was about 245lb. Clearly I’ve gained weight haha. I’ve had the nexplanon implant for about it a year and half. I recently had unprotected sex and I read that the implant may not be effective in obese women. Does anyone know? Is my implant working still? I read that in obese women it may have to be taken out earlier than the normal 3yrs. Like I’ve said mine is about a year and a half old. I also recently had a very light period/spotting  (I never get them on nexplanon) is that a sign it’s not working? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
