Brown discharge

I have been on Tri Sprintec birth control for over two years and never had any problems. I take the pill every day between the time of 7-8. I have been with the same guy for over four years, and am sexually active but we always use another form of protection. (Condoms, pulling out, etc.) I am scheduled to start my period in 8 days (Sept 15) but two days ago I noticed this brown discharge when I wiped, it had a tint of red in it for a few hours then went back to a brown color. Can someone please help me and tell me what's going on?

Sorry for continuing to comment back but I'm just curious about a few things. I went to the restroom today (nothing on my underwear) but when I wiped it was like I was starting my period. Is it normal to start a period a few days early while on the pill? I start in 5 days

This brown discharge is still continuing. And has varied from brown to red, then back to brown. Am I still alright, Is this still a normal side effect?

It's spotting, which is the top most common side effect of being on the pill. And while it's annoying, it doesn't actually mean that anything is wrong. But if it continues you may have to switch to a different pill.
