Can combination birth control cause thick vaginal spotting?

I've been on combination birth control for about 5 months now (first Levora, then switched to Portia 2 months in), and I've had breakthrough periods before. In the past, they were like my regular periods: lighter, but similar general consistency and flow so I would have to wear a pad. Recently, I've noticed that when I wipe, there's been light traces of blood which I thought was just my breakthrough period. But lately, I've noticed it doesn't "flow" out like my regular breakthroughs so even when I wear a pad, nothing really shows until I wipe. Lately its become 'clotty' and thick in consistency. Given the health situation here in my city, seeing a doctor right now is difficult - has anyone faced this before or have any ideas? Thanks!

Yes.  So, combining is a chance of more hormonal fluctuation which can lea to this situation. I would wait until it is a better situation to go to the doctor but this sounds to be related to that change in bc.
