Starting pill day after period ended

hello! so i’ve just started my period and am going to start birth control for the first time, my pack has a red section and tells me to start then. The pill i would be taking tomorrow will be a sugar pill and i won’t be taking an active pill till saturday but this will be the day after my period ends so will i be protected from pregnancy straight away or need to wait 7 days? or could i skip to a corresponding day with an active pill ? thank you :)
