Sudden, terrible side effects from IUD- 2 years after insertion

Hi everyone! I’ve had my Kyleena since august 2017. I spotted for a while after insertion which was normal, and my period completely went away. During December of last year, 2019, I started my period. It was intense for a few days, but it never stopped. Ive had super intense cramping, lower back pain, and spotting from December 2019- until now. While I’m not really on my period, I’m having significant spotting ranging in color and the physical side effects of being on my ‘period’ for this long have really taken a toll. My skin has been extremely broken out as well. I have taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. I went to my OBGYN about a week ago and told her everything that was going on. She said I can get the IUD removed and start birth control pills if I’m still having issues when I go back next week for my annual. The only problem is, the entire reason I got my IUD is because I could not find a birth control pill I like. Does anyone have any advice or can share a similar experience with their IUD? Thanks in advance!
